Machine Tool Recovery

Sheffield is a post-industrial city. There have been any number of manufacturers close their doors over the last couple of decades as their business has been exported to the cheaper labour economies of the far East. Many machine tools have already been exported, but we bet that there are unused, redundant CNC machines around the city. Our DIY FabLab could make use of these.

  • We're looking for people to help us seek out recover and re-vivify this equipment.
  • We've heard rumours of a disused CNC embroidery machine some place near Hillsborough. Apparently the 12-needle production machine has been shipped to China, but the one-needle, prototype version is still in the city, unused. Do you know anything about this? Get in touch!
